I think she is amazing
After suffering the agony of her late husbands death, allied to her perceived dreadful nursing care at the university of wales hospital and shabby heartless treatment from some staff.....the 76 year old widow and parliamentary veteran is fighting the good fight. She wants more openness, more accountability, far more outlets for help for the patients. she wants the trusta nd chief execs to be more involved , seen more on the wards and she wants them to be more accountable too But beyond all that she simply wants to see more compassion restored to the nhs. the endless excuse that its due to tired nurses is no longer acceptable, when thousands of patients have died of thirst, tens of thousands die each year from undiagnosed blood clots that are developed after patients arrive in hospital. in mrs clwyds case, she and friends were left to wipe her late husbands dry mouth, clothe parts of his body, to put an extra blanket, to put a fan off near his bed which had him shivering for hours, put his oxygen mask on properly , as he was hours from death another nurse walks in and puts the main lights on and asks , anyone for breakfast? oh and after he passed away not one nurse said a thing to her? Every little thing can kill a vulnerable poorly person. so its time the nhs started getting all of things right. those that aren't should be sacked ON THE SPOT These are matters of life and death, all my empathy is for the patients, not the nurses. Time we stopped fawning over nurses imo I think their job is easier than it was. There is so much more staff, specialists and different people from, cleaners to cooks, to auxillaries However, there is massive problems from the self serving waste in the trusts, the failure of ombudsmen to act, machines that are never used. It should the main priority to get sick people scanned , thus stops bed blocking and enables doctors to prescribe medication sooner, it also saves lives even andy burnham now admits theres too much secrecy with the nhs and the trusts....why didn't he say that years ago? why didn't brown and blair? she is doing the work aged 76 that those spineless younger coalition should be doing and failed to even attempt Lets hope this leads to way way way more openness and compassion from all and peace of mind for patients and their loved ones! |

Ann is a Labour MP I have always had a lot of time for. Some amazing work she has done here and I am sure she will be on the Govt's case in a years time if they fail to grasp and address her findings.
