Default Relax - it\'s only a gameshow

Posting this here because i think its very well put!

From Mumliz, a FM on DS:BB - See OP HERE

Quote:
This is my first (and probably my last) post on this or any other site which relates to BB.

I've watched every series and enjoyed most of them thoroughly and have spent hours reading this forum because it's kept me up to date with the events on the show each series.

But what's happened to everyone this year - this forum has turned into a vitriolic, cruel place to pick on the HMs and other members.

If you don't like the show - then don't watch it. If you disagree with someone's post - then comment on it in a constructive (not destructive) way.

During the last week there have been some really nasty comments on here about most of the HMs - you don't know them - you don't know (and will never know) what they're really thinking - chances are you'll never meet them. Yes they put themselves on TV and yes they have left themselves open to criticism - but where has all the hatred come from?

Nikki didn't choose to be evicted to come back in - if it hadn't been for Jayne she probably never would have left - you have to admit that it had got quite boring in the house until her return (whether welcome or not). Ash seems to have discovered that she wasn't a very pleasant person and has shown that she's prepared to make changes. Richard is a bitchy gay guy with a funny sarcastic sense of humour. Glyn has grown up and discovered that there's a big world out there beyond Wales. Pete is Pete and will always be a complex individual. Jennie is lucky to have made it through to the final but for an 18 year old she's got a sensible head on her shoulders.

Enjoy the last few days of the show - waste your money on voting if it's so important to you who wins ... I don't actually care and have never voted - but just remember - IT'S ONLY A GAMESHOW!

I wish all the HMs good luck in the future and will continue to quietly read this forum.

This is just the Nikki lovers back tracking and trying to change the subject as there heroine Nikki makes a fool of herself every night.

Quite right it is a GAME SHOW and the housemates no longer go in for the experience, they go in to:

1) make money
2) become famous
3) get a new career.

They all go in now thinking they know how to play the game and that is what they are doing. Whether it being the house clown, the house mediator, the house cry baby, the house drama queen, the housemate who sits on the fence the most, the house romance - you can pick one of the above from each series. Perhaps BB picks them for this reason or perhaps its their choice, but above all it is a Game Show with rewards (they hope) at the end.

I agree, for this forum and reading that DS, This final week has been full of arguments over the winner. It is only a gameshow but people are treating like something that their lives depend on

I blame programs like Big Brothers Big Mouth, it is designed to create strong feelings towards the house mates, then it spills over on here.

It's a shame really this use to be such a nice place, and as a moderator I had little to do but now I spend more time editing other peoples posts than talking about the show.

The chances of that are slim. They will pick even more extreme people that will create more heated discussion than this year.

Oh well.... roll on the Big Brother Holidays

I agree, I cant wait to start getting to know more people on here. A lot less people will be coming on and doing what they do best in the BB7 section (Argue).

Relax - it's only a gameshow

no

Getting fired up is part of the fun. It's like going to a football game and shouting for the team to win.

Of course just like sport their shouldn't be any Big Brother Hooliganism, but RELAX?? NO CHANCE!!!!

It was also when they brought back the evicted housemates.

They basically brought back a lot of unpopular housemates and that caused a load of extra arguments.

One of the reasons I hated the twist!
