I know there was a few debates on here about the energy prices rising and some not being able to afford to heat their homes etc so I was helping my partners gran apply for this today and thought I would post about it here just in case it could help anyone that wasn't aware of it..

Warm Home Discount for winter 2013-14
If you're a pensioner or have a low income, you may be able to get help with your electricity bill through the Warm Home Discount scheme. If you're eligible, you'll get a rebate on your electricity bill of £135 for the winter 2013 – 2014.
If you're an eligible pensioner, your will be contacted directly this year or early in 2014.
If you are on a low income but are not an eligible pensioner, you may still be able to get help. You will need to contact your electricity supplier to see if you are eligible and to find out about their scheme. Each supplier has their own rules about who else can get this help.

Just go to your energy suppliers website and you will find a list of eligibility criteria then if you are able to apply you can do it right on the website.
You need to have your account number ready to continue with the application though.
