Default World Cup Stadium Collapses

Wasnt sure whether to post this in here or sport...

Quote:
Three people have been killed in a partial collapse at the stadium due to host the World Cup opener in Brazil next year.

Part of the grandstand was destroyed when a metal structure buckled at the top of the Arena Corinthians venue in Sao Paulo.

Local media reported that the accident was caused by a crane collapse. Construction work has been halted at the site.

Firefighter official Mauro Lopes confirmed in a radio interview that at least three people died in the accident.

The accident happened at lunchtime, so not a lot of workers were on site at the time.

What a mess. the world cup hosting was given to Brazil for political reasons and the whole thing has been a shambles. Yes, it's an economically up and coming country, but it's clearly decades from having the infrastructure to support a tournament like the world cup.
