all males are potential rapists, aggression is allegedly a male thing only and is wholly bad, women arguing is a strong woman showing passion etc etc its double talk bull****.....men and women have different brains and its logical to conclude having a greater balance than 88 to 12% female to male would help boys in the classroom....boys learn differently and men teach differently if these radical feminist want equality then where are they now 88-12% doesn't sound too equal to anyone .....and guess what boys fall further and further behind every year all over the UK.....and the overall results fall further behind the rest of the world and this is the education of all of our children in their formative years we're talking about. it doesn't get much more important than that. I saw one bbc news reporter say , the main problem here is the perception of the results that's the biggest problem as british kids will be seen as less well educated....wrong again feminist bbc....the perception doesn't mean ****....the actual learning, understanding and results are what matters.... |

Well it could be as Caitlin says, that men just care less about kids, and it wouldn't surprise me.

As smudgie mentioned, the opportunities are there for men to enter the profession, they choose not to. I put that down to a lack of intelligent on their behalf, that is a conclusion I have come to based on your facts. It seems just as reasonable as the conclusion you've come to. Anyway how am I sexist or a hypocrite? |

men simply aren't encouraged to the profession..Men have more than enough intelligence and in many cases they bravely overcome the handicap of the biased education system to create works of genius after leaving school. This isn't done due to the feminine biased education system it is down to the pure hard work of these male individuals who help build the roads, the trains, the TV's, the phones , the buildings, the cars, that you clearly take for granted. not bad for a gender you label not intelligent enough to become a teacher. It definitely worth noting that this 12% figure is solely for primary schools, and not for schools overall.

Without a doubt, it's pretty much a common fact that more women teachers work in primary eduction with male teachers opting for secondary education to apply their knowledge.

why dou comment on how disgracefully low that 12% is and how more should be done to actively encourage men into the profession....clearly we need positive discrimination where only men can apply

That 42% figure shocked me a bit, as as I said earlier, males dominated our school when we got older.

Both my statements were sincere. I do indeed wonder why we don't have more male teachers. I also think they have the same opportunity, I wonder why they don't take it. My son had a fantastic male teacher in primary school..he also had fantastic female teachers. A good teacher is a good teacher to me. I am far too old to pay to the audience..or to the gallery for that matter. |

Honestly, I think part of the reason males chose not to work with young kids is because of the amount of stories about perverted male teachers. Its kind of..tainted the profession for them, which is sad as obviously not all are dodgy. But how high profile the odd few cases are make some people a bit more uneasy about males teaching their kids :/
