Well produced show tonight
This show is slowly starting to get itself back to the C4 days in terms of production for me. Sure, we've got the musical intros, Marcus' OTT narration and the unnecessary themed graphics they do for tasks still, as well as some other tacky little things they do on eviction shows but I must say, things are improving.
I loved Emma's pre-titles opening line tonight with the tension bed and and a cliffhanger of 'who goes? Casey and Lee decide' in a link that reminded me so much of Davina's presenting style. Much better than the ridiculous Marcus intros, hope they keep these up. I commented on launch night how she's starting to present the show as Davina I think and is becoming more relaxed and laid back. Of course she's always been a step up from Brian but last summer she was somewhat clinical in her delivery and I put it down to new job nerves, but so far this series she's been her normal calm and relaxed self that you can see on BOTS.
And the twist too, it's been six and a half years since we've had a housemate vote occur again and it's a twist I've been wanting to be repeated for a while now (admittedly on the civilian series first but oh well) so I'm very happy they went with this rather than some overused nomination nonsense. This is the kind of thing that the C4 days would produce, so on that production side we can perhaps hope that the twist ideas are slowly starting to improve? Hopefully that will continue.
But yeah, this show is starting to look somewhat more classier and professional in its production, rather than the tacky, camp, overbearing mess that it was with Brian at the helm 12 months ago.
