The Garden Bridge is a planned pedestrian bridge that has been proposed to be build over the River Thames, with work being possibly as soon as 2015. The idea was conceived by Joanna Lumley in 1998 and designed by Thomas Heatherwick, an English designer and the founder of Heatherwick Studio, a design practice in London. Costs of the bridge could be between 60 to 150 million pounds, sources say funding required would come from the private sector.

Nope it's too contemporary, those columns don't look sufficient to support the weight of a garden across the Thames either.

my first thought was if you get stuck between two beehives you'd have to jump into the water

so yeah i'm not a fan

I don't think it's going to look anything like the designs at all, it will involve alot less plants and trees. I agree with Shaun a little, i don't think it looks tacky however i do think it will be executed tacky. I think the width will be extended from 30m to at least 45/50m, In the design they've focused alot on the plants and the plants actually made it look smaller!

See i was thinking this too, roots will defiantly be an issue unless the tree begins to grow there, they leave it for like 50 years and remove it before the roots become an issue?
