No it wasn't, sexism is an attitude and a set of core values that defines one sex as superior to another...
Luisas one remark relating to a task that she felt that ollie or jim would be better suited at is not an indicator that she believes in a sexist ideology. I think there is positive and negative sexism, chivalry and gentlemanly behaviour can be seen as 'positive sexism' which is cultural, and misogyny 'negative' which is personal.

Why would the men be better suited to an eating task than the women though?

Hey don't start tarring me with that sexist brush..... I didn't say 'the men' I said ollie or jim, if luisa was there I would have said her too as she's very determined.

Yeah i noticed too. It's all bollocks,Apparently sexism can only work one way in some femenists eyes.Luisa just wants things to be 'more equal' for women.Plus Linda is a bitch anyway,I think she was well suited to the task.

Yeah i noticed this, she just mentions the men that are there, she does not mention Sam stepping up to do the eating task.

And Liz's comment was clearly sexist, a man shouldn't all a woman a nasty name, yet it is ok for a woman to call a man a ******?!? Unbelievable & I like Liz

Your post is a bit sexist, to be honest. Throughout history there have powerful women. Elizabeth 1 is upheld as one of the greatest monarchs in English history; Margaret Thatcher was one of the most influencial British politicians in my lifetime; women's voices are heard on TV, radio and in print. As mothers and wives, women have power: many dominate the home and help to mould their children into the people they will become; the nursing and teaching professions are dominated by women, which gives them the power over life and death, and the opportunity to shape the future by influencing/developing young minds. Some women use their positions as wives to enhance their husband's career, or gain a platform of their own, aka Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama. The idea that women have never had or will never have power over men is a fallacy which has at it's root the sexist notion that the most important strength is physical strength / status / wealth and that the roles which men traditionally play in society are the most important. In most western countries, education and opportunities exists for both sexes, and women can succeed and excel in what is still regarded as a "man's world". Just because women choose to prioritise child-rearing, or other areas, rather than pursue a career in business or politics, it does not mean that they could not do so should they desire. In countries where women are regarded as chattals their voices and influence can still resound world-wide. Look at Malala Yousafzai - as a child, the Taliban saw her as such a threat that they tried to assassinate her. Last edited by Seraphim; 23-01-2014 at 02:20 PM. |
