A snob? She's probably one of the most insecure housemates we've ever had

The article was really nice I thought

Liz is a pragmatist, her literal interpretations of the HMs are raw and come from a mind uncluttered by celebby social etiquette.
Well done her, a great read.

Describing people as "stupid", "inane", "so-called intelligent" and saying that reality show viewers are "secretaries, supermarket till operatives and hair salon creatives" etc. is very intellectually snobby, and the article would have been nicer if she'd omitted that sort of thing.

I agree, but these are real people she is talking about, and it seems hurtful to describe them as "stupid" or "inane", especially when she herself hardly opened her mouth for the first two weeks. She has been equally "pragmatic" about friends, neighbours and other people she knows who are not celebs. Most of them are no longer talking to her.

It was cathartic... it took you through how she felt during her experience, including her preconceptions and misconceptions.... It was wonderful, sympathetically written.
The public are till ops and hairdressers, and reality TV is escapism.... I don't see an issue with highlighting that fact.

Ho hum. I was giving some examples to someone who was wondering in what way the piece was snobby. I liked the piece too. No probs if you don't agree that by describing the viewers of reality shows as till ops and hairdressers, rather than doctors and lawyers she is displaying intellectual snobbery.

She still lied on her evicted BOTS show, she claimed that she would never write an article about BB or the HM's.

So IMO that invalidates any and all of her opinions or claims as to what went on in the house, the woman is a joke now.

I'm sorry you feel that way, luckily she relented and wrote one.
Ho hum?.... Intellectual snobbery, for stating that the target demographic for MIC is secretaries, till ops and hairdressers (women 18-40s)
If you say so, I wouldn't overanalyse her intent too much.

There is no such thing as personal objectivity. As soon as you have an opinion, you could be seen as biased one way or the other. Liz is no more biased than the Jim loving audience or any other Jim fans, so what's your point?

It's interesting she mentions the "long line of limos" at the launch night - just reminds me even more of the good old days when housemates would pull up and come out the limo! Kinda preferred that over the current entrances through the eye stage.

Here's what I wrote, just to make things clear:

If she hadn't described the HMs as "stupid" it wouldn't have been bad, but it's snobbish to dismiss others and feel superior to them because of your intellect - everyone has something different to offer.
My opinion is as valid as Liz Jones', even though I don't write for the Daily Mail.

I like Liz Jones - she's the only reason I watched CBB.. and she's one of the reasons I became a regular reader of the Mail Online. I'm addicted now, lol.

As a regular reader of Liz Jones, I was rather glad to see the DM readers' opinion changing in Liz's favour during her time on the show. She was getting lots of positive feedback during her time in the house. It was funny to see below the BB article that most of the readers have reverted to their previous opinion, with the top rated comments being:

Quote:
"Liz I thought you said to your housemates you wouldn't write about you time in BB?.. Hypocrite!!!"
Quote:
"Awful woman. Only has the guts to make comment in print."
It looks as if Liz is back in the doghouse

What a lovely guy.
Great lad

The Daily Mail comments section is one of the most entertaining and trolled 'forums' on the internet. It is pretty scathing in parts, but in a witty way, good on her I say.

Just bitter because she slated your wife-beating favourite.
