According to BBC news, a two metre high tsunami has been created as a result. Can't do a link as on my phone - fingers crossed everything goes OK

I don't really get seismology (lol, obviously)... every time something like this happens there's a panic that there'll be tsunamis but they never materialise. Obviously a great eventuality but I do wonder why they're so unpredictable (or is just the media whipping up a frenzy?)

I don't ever remember hearing about tsunamis when I was a child, obviously they've been happening for millennia but were they not as prevalent 20 years ago or is it just because I'm getting older and read the news that they seem to be talked about more?

I don't suppose a 6 ft high tsanami will do much damage, probably encourage a lot of surfers to meet up down there to try and catch a few big waves.

I wonder if a Big One (8-12) will go to California next?
