I'm familiar with smoking - some of my family members smoke (my dad used to as well) and quite a lot of my friends do it too.

In my case, I guess I'm 'I did, but not anymore' - I've tried smoking with friends, but it was my choice to stop doing it - it's not like there was any peer pressure involved or anything, because I don't stand for it.

It's basically all down to choice - I don't think it's disgusting, it's just something people choose to do and then it becomes a habit.

If I said I hated it, I'd be going against quite a lot of people I know, so I don't really have a problem with it!

Sorry in advance to people that smoke! But I have quite strong views on this subject!

I have to agree with Laura (Princess) on this one.

What is the point of smoking? To make you feel good about yourself? Living long enough to see my children grow up and enjoy their lives will make me feel good about myself!

Smoking is dirty, smelly and pointless. Why not just crouch down onto a road and eat some newly-laid tar? It'll be just about as good for you!

Perhaps my views come from the fact that whenever someone smoked near me when I was younger, I would get a nasty eye infection. I was once told that if I ever smoked, I could put serious strain on my internal organs, due to an otherwise un-noticed heart condition. I just don't see what people want to achieve by smoking, it's just an utter waste of good money.

I do realise that peer pressure plays a part in some people taking up smoking, but at the end of the day, it's your life, live it how you want to: just say no! Let's face it, if your "mates" force you to try a cigarette, and you don't want to, a true "mate" would respect that.

Ok, rant over! So, to summarise: No! Lool!

well I think smoking is quite gross.
Don't know why people bother starting when

A) They know it won't make you look more mature (in the attitude sense).
B) It costs Ł1500 a year if you buy like 1 pack a day. Yes I know the adverts say this, but I actually calculated it too.
C) It stinks.
D) You die basically.

I know boys who smoke cos they think its cool. I know they in fact hate it cos they don't even inhale the smoke. They're just trying to "up" their status when in actual fact, it really doesnt!

I won't judge you any less apart from the fact you'll have minging teeth, smelly clothes and its your choice if you want a shorter lifespan ahead of you!

Exactly Ella, that's what I don't understand; people who do it CHOOSE to do it. I think we're the only two who don't have that much of a problem with it (even though I don't do it anymore).

What I dont understand is, people who smoke, then people ask them to stop etc, and they get stressy.

I know its your choice, but they are trying to help..
