They are saying

You Know, I never ever thought I would be saying this but I can actually agree with them on this.

I'd even go further, I would like to see energy also taken back into State control, something else I never thought I could support.
I am amazed at some of my friends who are also coming round to this train of thought too.

What would happen to the shareholders in these companies though, are most of these rail companies floated on the stock market?

The TUC general secretary, Frances O'Grady, said the report highlighted again how private train operators relied upon public subsidies. "Rail franchising has provided train companies with the perfect cover to use taxpayers' money to line their shareholders' pockets," she said.

"It is laughable for ministers to carry on insisting that rail privatisation is delivering value for money. The government's decision to re-privatise the east coast mainline looks more foolish by the day'

not a take over.

I think there's definitely a case for bringing rail under state control. Public opinion is certainly overwhelmingly in favour of a move away from the privatisation of train operators.
