Default Paxman: I loathe aspects of BBC and Radio One should go

BBC broadcaster says although he is deeply attached to the corporation it has become 'smug' and he can't understand why it continues to support Radio One

Yes Pax

Let it all Out

[Jeremy Paxman has said he "loathes" aspects of the BBC as he described an organisation "preoccupied with the conditions of its senior staff" and admitted he cannot understand why the corporation supports Radio One.

The BBC broadcaster said although he loves the BBC "in many ways", it had become "smug" and focused on expanding up unnecessary avenues.

He told The Guardian: "It [the BBC] is smug. I love the BBC in many ways, but at the same time it has made me loathe aspects of it, and that’s a very odd state of affairs. ]

Radio 1 was ****e long before Moyles left. Don't get me wrong, I can understand the BBC wanting to pull in a young demographic because those are the people who buy pop songs... but why is Radio 1 an all day kiddy fest when, shockingly enough, their target demographic is IN SCHOOL!? Like fair enough making it a kiddy radio station during the summer holidays/other school holidays and in the evenings and weekends... but it's just so messed up as far as logic goes. 14 year old Emily and friends are not listening to Radio 1 at 1pm when the newest wicked One Direction (!!!!!!11) track is being played, but 22 year old stony faced Z is sitting in a car driving up and down the north coast of Scotland taking parts to tankers somewhere and not very ****ing amused that he has to listen to the same 6 songs on repeat every bloody hour

Why doesn't he leave and let someone else get the University Challenge spot - you know someone not going through the male menopause

OH my god. I literally love radio 1. Nick Grimshaw is 100% better than Moyles, although I can see why some people may disagree. Love Scott Mills and Greg James too.

Radio 1 do overplay a lot of the same type of songs, which can get annoying but the DJ's are brilliant. Plus, they are already getting rid of BBC3, they wouldn't get rid of Radio 1, there literally would not be anything for teenagers/young adults.
