Troubled Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell has made his debut as a director on the set of the ITV soap.

Directing Peter Barlow, played by Chris Gascoyne, Le Vell seems to be clam and relaxed on set - despite this being a rather large storyline - and the veteran actor even makes himself a brew.

It was recently reported that Le Vell is winning his battle with the booze and drugs.

The Corrie star told pals that he has not touched a drop of alcohol for five weeks after a stint in rehab.

In the gallery above Le Vell is seen on set next to the cast and the crew and looks the part next to Peter Barlow actor Gascoyne.

An insider revealed Le Vell was directing Barlow's court appearance for the Tina McIntyre murder trial after the killer was reportedly caught in the act.

Le Vell is reportedly not expected back on screen as mechanic Kevin Webster in Corrie until September.
