Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower [original: Bob Dylan]
Bob Dylan - Mr. Bojangles [original: no idea, think it's a common blues song] (however, it is here)
Don McLean - Crying [original: Roy Orbison, I think.]
Nat King Cole - What'll I Do? [original: not sure]
Sam Cooke - A Change Is Gonna Come [originally given to Otis Redding, I believe]

more controversial picks:
Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind [original: Willie Nelson, I believe. or Elvis.]
Wheatus - A Little Respect [original: Erasure]
Adele - Make You Feel My Love [original: Bob Dylan] (I'm sorry Bob, but your voice just isn't pleasant)

My sentiments exactly.. I always get shot down in flames when I say this! He's one helluva song writer but should stick to letting other people sing them for him!

I must be one of the few people who prefer the original "Tainted Love" and "Respect".

Agree on "Nothing Compares" though. I'm not a Sinead O'Connor fan, but the original was ghastly.

I only recently heard them. I never got into Ciccone Youth before so was surprised to find they comprised of every member Sonic Youth anyway with the lead singer of Minutemen on top of that. Not a bad combination.

I'll probably be ripped to shreds for this but I prefer this to the original by The Who..

This might annoy some people, but I like this version better for the harmonising and fuller sound.

I actually know quite a few people who would agree with that.

I like this version but I do prefer Joy Division.

More gritty than the original.
