I have watched each Big Brother since BB1 and (as I consider) myself to be quite a knowledgeable fan, I think its time that Big Brother moved away from the opening night/week twists. Do we really need to see Housemate X walking around with an earpiece in attempting to do pointless tasks etc etc..?

I am all for twists and challenges throughout the show but wouldn't a "normal" opening show provide more entertainment? I am sure by now, the (soon to be) housemates catch on and obviously look out for the more strange characters on opening night therefore raising suspicion that they are indeed on a task. If none of them were on a task but the suspicion was still there it would cause arguments and suspicion out of nothing eg making it more fun for the viewer.

Anyway, rant over! (If any of that even makes sense, it does in my own head!)

Am I the only one in thinking this? What do you guys think?

Yeah it would be a lot better. I think when there is a twist everything is focused on that! And the concept of it is repeated and repeated throughout the launch which is annoying! I think on a launch night the focus should be on the housemates. But yet again the launch will focus on this major theme and twists. I'm all for it but maybe not focusing on it so much while we are meeting the housemates

I really liked the mole twist the last year C4 hosted the show. Especially sneaking from the party into the main house through that vent in the bathroom to mess up all the pizzas.

We are inevitably going to get an opening night twist. At least last year's didn't involve an actual housemate, just an actor.

I suspect this year one genuine housemate will (literally) be the chosen one.

Twists like the whole "destroying the suitcase and clothes" thing is pointless - isn't it obvious to the housemates that Big Brother won't destroy their clothes? A good twist can be fantastic (e.g BB6 sneaking into the Secret House with Orlaith and Kinga etc..) however the obvious pointless ones are just that.. pointless.

That suitcases thing was total nonsense.

I agree a first week with no silly twists or only one or 2 housemates deciding who is up first for eviction would actually be a refreshing and enjoyable change for the better.

They can be really annoying and sometimes put me off watching. Especially when they have to act funny on the opening night going round various people. The editing of them doesn't help either.

The thing with opening night twists is that it encourages the more causal viewer to stay tuned till the end and beyond. We want to see the outcome and the knock on effects.
A launch where all night the housemates think something is going on, really messing with their heads when in fact nothing is, would be quit effective.

At least they've knocked earpiece twists on the head. Looking back, even though the CBB10 one produced 'DON'T TALK ****E!' it was just tacky and boring tbh
