I think I prefer this Nicki to party anthems Nicki - I feel like there's one of the greatest female rappers of all time waiting to burst out and instead she's been wasting time with silly pop-rap-lite songs like Starships and Whip It, as amazing as they are for what they are, they're not going to do anything for her credibility. I hope she comes out with more songs like this.

She doesn't need to add to her pop trinity, Pound the Alarm, Whip It and Starships are enough.

I do hope that was all a phase just to consolidate her crossover appeal. I don't mind her featuring on such tracks every once in a while, but it feels like she wasted the last 2 years releasing and re-releasing throwaway pop ****e and doing as many features on throwaway pop ****e as possible for no real reason. It's still salvageable, but the Nicki Minaj that was getting praised for her verses on Monster who seemed tipped for rap greatness got buried under the Nicki Minaj who wears ridiculous wigs, pulls stupid faces and releases childishly simple pop songs with raps tacked on.
