Default Ok so we've got the eye, house and theme ..

The only thing that's left is the housemates. Although everything seems pretty good to go at this point (apart from some last minute promo) it still has potential to be shattered.

I'm only saying this because channel 5 are known for selecting so many crap people, although they've discovered a few diamonds they still get completely outweighed. With that being said, BB14 was a step in the right direction in terms of diversity, my advice to the casting team is to have a somewhat type of cast; selecting housemates based on the cast as a whole, not just individually. It would also be good to select the official housemates but not let them know after about a week of intense discussion with the team, even have a psychologist to analyze them.

What do you think they should do? & are housemates really that important? (I think they are)

They go for people who are argumentative or extravagant these days. They should work on creating a mix of ages, I'd love to see some over 50s in the house not all uni students. More young than older but a real diverse ethnic and financial background, not just 16 brash white young people

The simple fact is that if they just chose random people it would work. They do not need people like Sallie Axl or in some ways Dexter. People with no extremes can be very interesting and sometimes moreso as it takes longer for them to become unraveled.

Just make sure that there are a mix of ages and classes and away we go.

I want a bigger mix of ethnicities also, I don't know why it's always 70-80% white people

BB6 got it spot on in terms of ethnicities:

Makosi - African
Science - Caribbean
Vanessa - Dual heritage/mixed race
Derek - Caribbean
Kemal - Turkish
Roberto - Italian

^ that was almost half of the entire house, the series was the best because it was the most realistic

Ethnicities, a reflection on real life. Nowadays multi racial schools can have up to 5 different ethnicities in just one class. Even in my workplace there are loads
more people from different backgrounds

i think it would be good to have people that show up with extreme personalities early and ones that are slow burners. i would hate to see everyone being a slow burner and the first half for the most part be boring if they just stay in the background. a good balance is all thats needed.

In all honesty, I really think that 'normal' people make the best housemates Ok, they're not always the most exciting... But the more normal the housemate, the more private they are - The longer it takes to really know them. It becomes more of a progressive story with standard housemates. Of course, it's a TV show; we do need the big personalities but it works to juxtapose these with a few underdogs that need almost unravelling.

The housemates are the most important thing about the entire show, they make or break it, not the eye, deco, etc, if they have messed up and chosen awful housemates then it will be terrible, no matter what they do to try and make it better it will fail, it all lies on the housemates..

exactly, doesn't matter the look, decor of the house, or what the eye looks like, the most important thing to the show & to me as viewer is good HM's.

Very true. I think it will be the same as most years. We will have a number of "golden gems" but then a few bores. Be nice if every single housemate contributed to something. I mean.. do we need another winner like Sam? Really? I enjoyed the last series. We just had a **** winner.

housemates are probably the most important part of the show, but surely the tasks are a close second..to be honest I hate these daily tasks, fair enough it's ok now and again, but everyday just makes me bored. Weekly tasks lasting 24 hours per day is what should be happening, not some loser having to kiss 4 people to win a sweet party for god sake.

i agree i care a hell of a lot more about a good cast than the damn house. even when people bring it up for the US version. some changes are nice but its really about the HM. same thing why i really dont get bothered by the host.

I want to see a BB3 mix again. Range of ages, some usual "fame seekers"/bimbos but also academics thrown in. It made for comedy, fights and deeply interesting conversations.
