Kimberly is very clever, she knows that the public love thick people so she's trying to be thick because if she was seen as pretty and intelligent, a lot of the teenage girls that watch the show would hate her guts.

Kimberley can easily get geography questions wrong and still be relatively intelligent compared to other people. General knowledge is not an indication of a person's intelligence in any event. You can have a person with an IQ of 90 with a huge wealth of information swilling about in their head. You can also have a person with an IQ of 190 living alone on a desert island who is unaware that the rest of the world even exists, let alone know facts about geography, history, science etc
