I liked Matthew at first. When I thought he was just a friendly Senator Palpatine. Then I discovered he was actually Darth Sidious.

I think he could be brutally scathing if pushed enough. But I respect him for sticking up for himself against Helen and Toya in a reasonably self controlled way.

I don't like him personally. All he did was talk stuff and run and hide behind Toya in my opinion.

Guess it's how different people handle things, I would walk away from a heated argument if the other party was in my face to stop myself loosing control and lashing out. I don't think he went to hide, I think he just did what he thought was necessary to stop the argument, and knew when to walk away, that has merit in my eyes.

I'm not in love with Matthew (which I still find shocking as I thought that he would be my favourite on LN) but I hate Ł5k Mark more.
