A ceiling collapses on top of the Weatherfield grease monkey as he is having renovations done at his house. Tyrone (Alan Halsall, 31) comes close to death when he is struck by falling debris, including a large drill.

His friends and family look on in horror as he’s whisked away in an ambulance, screaming in agony. Builder Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas, 30) is left guilt-ridden as he’s the one that Tyrone’s paying to do the work.

With girlfriend Fiz by his side, poor Tyrone tries to put on a brave face when he tells her: “I told you it would get messy if we got the builders in.”

In scenes to be screened next month, Jason replies: “Less of the wisecracks, save your energy. The ambulance is on its way, don’t worry.”

Later word reaches Tyrone’s worried friends at the Rovers and Jason’s girlfriend Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley, 30) delivers the news.

She tells everyone: “Tyrone’s got two broken ribs and a broken wrist. “Jason thinks it’s his fault. “If he beats himself up any more then it will be him that ends up in casualty.”

Jason’s dad Tony comes to his defence when he tells everyone: “Jason would never cut corners.

“He’s done a great job, it’s probably just a freak accident.

“Fingers crossed that Tyrone will be all right.”

A show insider said: “With Tyrone out of action for a while Luke will have to take over at the garage.

“Or maybe it’s time Kevin came back for good?”

Stuart Blackburn did a summer preview interview on the Corrie website:

1) Max is going to develop ADHD and will have to be put on medication - which Kylie decides to take as the Platts reach a new low point.

2) Peter is arrested for Tina's murder and comes face to face with Jim McDonald in prison.

3) Tyrone and Fiz will be at loggerheads with Tony as he manipulates the Grimshaws further.

4) Ken will return to absolute chaos as it transpires that Deirdre has kept him in the dark about what's been happening.

5) As I said in another thread, Faye becomes pregnant thanks to a mystery older boy at school.

6) "lots of comedy" coming up for the Tinkers.
