No, you're mistaken. Basic rations mean no food whatsoever, absolute starvation, despair of the magnitude never felt by living creatures before.

Or, that's what the housemates' reactions to task failures suggest.

Ridiculous but then so is how they reacted to Marlon pressing the button considering they have yet to even experience what an actual "Basic Rations" week really is.
