Doesn't matter how Gary feels. James shouldn't be treating him that way.

The man does not feel as though James is treating him badly for crying out loud.

How many more times does this have to be said? How can people be offended on someone elses behalf when they themselves are not offended?/

To answer your question, I'll provide a simple example. There are MANY examples I could provide... but this one should demonstrate how this can (and does) happen.

Joe Smith is talking to Jane Doe... He tells her how beautiful she is, how intelligent... that he loves her sense of humor, etc.

Of course Jane wouldn't feel offended... Joe has offered her nothing but praise.

But unbeknownst to Jane, Joe has been running off to another room and telling Jack Jones what a twat Jane is... how he thinks she's ugly, stupid, and unfunny.

Jane doesn't feel offended... but we, as the readers of this little story, know that Joe is backstabbing her... so even though she doesn't feel offended... WE DO, because we know the TRUTH.

it has been said many many times on this forum that James is bullying Gary, bullying, victimising and isolating.. it's utter crap.

James is trying to HELP Gary, he could just sit back and take the piss out of him like the rest of them do..

James's behaviour could quite easily offend and upset Gary. If a little kid was punching someone like David, for example, it wouldn't hurt David. But it doesn't mean that it's right for the little kid to be punching somebody.

James likes to appear to try to help, whilst rolling his eyes and losing patience...

As for taking the piss, I think you'll find James does more than his share of that also.

Why is James trying to help Gary?

Is he doing off his own back and out of the kindness of his heart?

Or is he doing it because Big Brother called him into the diary room and asked him to look out for Gary?

He does help him though.. he could just do nothing.
I think it would probably be for the best if he did just leave him alone and let him struggle and ignore him... James would be better thought of... and a lot less frustrated too no doubt!!!!!

I don't like James, but he is NOT bullying Gary ffs.

Yes, he comes across as very patronising sometimes, but at least he actually speaks and acknowledges Gary, last night on the feed, a few of the HMs were just ignoring Gary

Speaking extra clearly to help a had of hearing person can sometimes come across as patronising.
As much as I find James a bit of a twit, he is the only one in there that takes the time to really talk to Gary, and to try and help him.

I don't think anyone is trying to say Gary is hurt or offended, but that doesn't excuse James' behaviour.

Gary is odd. Chances are he isn't hurt or offended, but James and some others are behaving terribly.

James is trying his best with him.. against the odds in fairness. Gary is rude and unappreciative and in all honesty, if I was trying to help someone like that, I'd bin it.

I think people would have more respect for James if he didn't bother trying with Gary, rather than helping him then taking the piss as soon as his back is turned.

Have you ever had to deal with someone who is like Gary? I have. It's frustrating and sometimes, you just need to take the piss to get by.

Aw I am sincerely sorry that you have but this is something different. In life we all have our ups and downs and I know what you mean to a certain extent. It shouldnt make us feel bitter though because if we have done our best at the time, then we do not have to reproach ourselves. I know I did for a while but I had to forgive myself because tbh, we never know when we will be in that situation of ageism and misunderstandings.

The trouble with this series though it is constant piss taking on one friendless person. It is very sad, at least our own would have had other friends to console them.

I dunno if you were asking about just James or lots of housemates, but there have been tons of examples of name calling and snidey remarks:

Leslie: Gary Busey is a buffoon
Stephanie: The water will be black (when Gary was having a shower); I'm nice to everybody I like but I don't like you; I said James not you (when Gary and James were leaving the room on LF last night and Stephanie called James over so Gary came too.. And then when Gary left they continued to bitch about him)
David: ******ing prick (as he left the room because Gary said he knew how to place an ice pack on his knee)
James to whole group: At least the two freakos are outside (when Gary and Frenchy were on the scrapheap)

The sad thing is there are definitely more examples, these are just off my head. I believe these people are the main culprits though. Also, none of these remarks were made in an argument, just when people felt like being nasty about Gary. I can half understand nasty remarks in the heat of an argument but not just randomly.
