Default Rowetta In Brand New Reality Show For Children In Need

X FACTOR beauty Rowetta is hoping to snip her way to success in a brand new reality TV show called Celebrity Scissorhands.

She’ll join eight other celebs – including Darren Day and Apprentice winner Michelle Dewbury - for a two-week stay at beauty boot camp, in aid of Children In Need.

Top hairdresser Lee Stafford will coach the novices in hair, beauty and fashion while Alex Zane presents the BBC Three show.

The stunning mum-of-two said: "I didn’t realise how hard it would be.

"It may look easy, but learning how to hold scissors and a comb in one hand is difficult.

"When we started we were all getting cut to pieces. Darren and Steve (80’s icon Steve Strange) got some serious ones on their hands."

The programme will see the trainees make the transition from practicing on dummies to working with real people, resulting in a final public vote to find the top three.

The winning trio will do the hair and make-up behind the scenes on the Children In Need appeal night on Nov 17, while the losers will have to sweep the floors.

"I hope the volunteers we’re working with have to sign a disclaimer so they can’t complain afterwards," laughed the 40-year old singer.

"We’re practicing a variety of hairstyles. I’m really looking forward to the Afro-Caribbean day."

Rowetta, who has developed a close bond with Steve, said: "We’ve become great friends. We’ve been practicing together – in fact, he’s just put an eye pack on me this morning.

"He’s hilarious. A real character."

The Manchester lass - who was once a backing singer for the Happy Mondays - came fourth in the first series of The X Factor.

Since then her career has gone from strength-to-strength.

"I have a huge gay following who are very loyal to me," she said. "I sang at Jordan and Peter’s wedding, released an album and my new tune Lighten Up has hit Ibiza by storm. It just keeps getting better.

"I sang for Children in Need last year and think it’s a brilliant cause. I’m thrilled and honoured to be doing it again."

She added: "I’ve been offered so many reality TV shows and turned them down.

"For this one though, no-one gets paid. No-one can say we’re reality TV *****s."
