This is a perfectly true story:
Some years ago, I used to attend a lot of 'all-nighters' and quite a few 'all-dayers' at various Gay Clubs up and down the country (yes, I did 'poppers' and the whole shebang!). As a group, we used to love the music, the people, the pure hedonistic atmosphere, and the fact that we could go out for a drink with an attractive girl on our arms without ending up fighting with jealous sad yobs who constantly tried to cause trouble once they'd had enough alcohol/drugs inside them. On one particular occasion, we went to Heaven, under the arches in London, and a friend coaxed his reluctant, single male cousin and his single male friend to come along. I'd never met these two guys before but they both were ignorant homophobic yobs who - vainly - tried to cover up their massive inferiority complexes with a 'gangsta' facade. I did not like them, but they both seemed to attach themselves to me and my - then - girlfriend for most of the evening and in deference to my friend who had invited them along, I held my tongue and remained civil even when they both continually moaned about the "crap club" and both made homophobic comments about some of the other revellers. A few hours in and these cruds - thankfully - disappeared, only for the 'non-cousin' to later reappear alone. He was pissed - both literally, and at the fact that his mate had "got off" with a "*********g stunner, jammy bastard". A bit later, the cousin turned up even more pissed than his mate, and coupled with 'a really attractive willowy blond' who he believed came from London. He could not keep his hands off her - snogging, mutual groping et al. What we knew and he didn't, that she was a he - 'Dolly' a pre-op transexual from Leeds - beautiful and convincing as she was. Two strange things transpired; At time to leave, the cousin declined to leave with us, said he'd be fine, and disappeared into the night with Dolly. Two years later the cousin was still living with Dolly in a back-to-back in Harehills, Leeds - no longer an homophobic 'gangster'. We used to see them regularly in various clubs over the next few years, and the last time I saw him was at a CHE (Campaign for Homosexual Equality) event in Sheffield, and he was a completely transformed, friendly, happy man. I am sincerely glad that this guy escaped from the confines of his own personal 'closet' and found happiness but - to my shame - I must admit that all those years ago, when this homophobic yob reappeared in Heaven with Dolly (who at the time he believed to be female) and was snogging the life out of her, I could not resist a smirk of smug satisfaction at the irony. Have you ever ever had cause to have smirked in smug satisfaction? |

This boy I know tried his absolute hardest to ruin my life and get under my skin at every opportunity - I started dating his ex so he interfered until we broke up, then he befriended one of my close friends, then that friend moved into my old flat with my best friend so this guy was constantly in my old flat hanging around my best friend all the time, turned my best friend's girlfriend against me, my close friend against me, befriended the girl I worked with just to get at me etc etc... all because I dated his ex for like 3-4 months. I didn't even do anything nasty to him. Fast forward to today, I'm about to move into a flat with our mutual ex (we're no longer together and are now best of friends) and there's not a damn thing he can do about it. I KNOW it's making him furious and we're both absolutely relishing it. My best friend broke up with his girlfriend so she no longer matters, I don't really speak to the close friend anymore and by all accounts neither does he and the girl I worked with moved back home so he has nothing on me anymore. Smug satisfaction, absolutely.

I took this girl who was interested in me on a couple of dates, And I really did like her. She called it off because she wasn't in the place for a relationship which was cool (we worked together so we made sure it wasn't awkard) and we remained friends. About 5 months later I found out that her and my cousin had shagged at least twice, both never told me (I found out when a friend let on, assuming I had known all of this time). I don't really speak to either of them now, but I was thrilled when I discovered that my cousin had contracted thrush from her

This isn't about a relationship but it has some smug satisfaction in it;
In real life, I hate a lot of people. Mostly people from school, because a lot of them are arseholes and snobby pricks. Anyway, there is this big USA trip going on, and only first come first serve go. I didn't really want to go because, well, I'd rather go with my family. The night before the people who are going are announced, This bitch starts just being plain nasty, laughing at me, etc. with her clique full of ****boys and sluts. They're all obviously going, because their parents generally spoil them rotten. The next morning, None of them get to go to the trip, they're all reserves. They're all pissed off and upset and i'm just in the background like ![]() |

She was, but there are lots of really beautiful transgenders out there, and all are just as 'special' in their own way. I think the cousin was a miserable bitter person because he was living a false existence - in denial of his true sexuality, which his why he put up the 'gangsta' facade. Perhaps it took his first visit to a Gay club and someone like Dolly to cause him to let his mask slip and consequently emerge from the closet.
I can imagine just how really difficult it must have been for him to have been 'trapped' in that circle of low-brow bigots with their 'macho' and homophobic B.S., when he was secretly gay. You would be amazed at the 'not-so-secret' thoughts of many 'straight' guys when they come into contact with many transgenders - as in 'FunnyGirls' in Blackpool, or just an evening in the 'Village' in Manchester. That's what keeps them returning. ![]() |

..that's a good story, Kirk...it's kind of the best type of 'karma' story because he became a better person, there is no value in bad karma just because someone is a bit of an idiot really...I'm glad he became himself through Dolly...well Hello Dolly.. ![]() |

Ahhhhh Heaven. I love that place. I remember leaving there about 3am as a drag queen was arriving by rickshaw.

Heaven is Heaven, but a lot of the Northern clubs were fantastic nights out; Rockshots in Leeds, Masquerade in Doncaster, and Hero's in Manchester, which is where we met Divine - a truly brilliant, larger than life act. Golden years. ![]() |
