Actually Windows 8 is a much better software than previous versions...

Has a much faster boot time than previous versions.
The task manager gives a lot more information for the user.
It has better performance than previous versions.
Has better and more up to date security.
Ability to mount ISO files from inside the software.

Underneath, Windows 8 is a really good OS, people mostly hate on it due to changes in the up to date GUI aimed at mostly what I would say tablet/touch screen users.
