![]() I have to speak in front of 19 people next week and the mere thought makes me feel sick. My legs shake, my mouth runs dry, my voice cracks...I can't public speak. I'm fine at performing, however ![]() |

just think that 90% of them would feel exactly the same as you
be yourself! i'm still goofy when I talk in front of all those people (most of them are kids, but still) and it makes me feel a lot better yeah, just dont try to be all professional, cause i think that makes it more stressful

once you leave schools, you leave behind the childish idiots who made you feel embarrassed in front of your audience.
the real 'working' world is a lot kinder to you!

I used to get really nervous, but (to my surprise) it'd always get A*'s in oral presentations, idk why but it just seems really easy when i have to do it now

Detest it.
It has gotten easier as I've gotten older but I'll never enjoy it. When we're split into smaller groups at uni it's fine but when we have to present to the whole group of students I sh*t bricks. |

I learned a while ago that its simply a matter of rehearsal. 99% of nerves is lack of prep.
get someone on their feet and get them to talk about their frieds, what they look like and what things they like and anyone can do it. The best public speakers are the ones that know 100% exactly what they are about to say. |

I worry about it, but when it comes to it, I like to think I stop worrying about it and just do it. I mean it's okay if it's like 20-30 people but not hundered's

I once did a presentation to an ad agency and at the end, when i revealed the price, to a man and woman, they got up and walked out (30 or so people). I was presenting with a new girl and it was her first time- she cried all the way back to the office!

Remembering Kerry
|
I used to plan too much and think way too much about it when I had to which really didn't work for me at all.
It is a lot easier for me to do when I really have passion for what I am on about and really want to get points across. Now, when I have to, I just have the basic points I want to make and then go on from there. I find that has become successful for me. The way I got a round my original 'concerns' was to try to focus on someone in the group or larger audience I may be talking to who I knew was supportive of me. That has led to being able to combat the reservations I had before and now everything just seems to flow. I really love it when I get challenged now too,I do love to go on and on so getting the chance to emphasise my points as to the issue again really fires me up too. |
