His "antics" were irrelevent to their argument. He brought it up to get one over on Linda, and using a dead loved one like that is nasty, regardless of the circumstances.

Worse, it wasn't even in the heat of an argument, he said it behind her back afterwards. Oh, and then denied it when she confronted him.
