The Gabe Lewis character has received mixed reviews from both critics and fans of the show alike. On the website Nerve.com, he is listed as the twelfth least funniest character on The Office,[68] and was ranked at number two on ChaCha.com's Allison Weaver's list of 15 TV Characters That Should Be Killed Off, with her writing "I'm pretty sure there isn't a single person on the planet who enjoys Gabe's character in any way. He's not funny, he's really a malicious jerk, and he's 100% pointless. He's the worst addition to the cast since the series began, and he just gets less and less appealing with every episode".
