Default Strangeways - Britain's toughest prison riot BBC2

Strangeways - Britain's toughest prison riot BBC2 02.04.15

let me introduce
like me they are incarcerated
the tension will never reduce
because finding the solution was not at all exasperated.
shut off to the world outside
in a society that is hidden
with no self respect or self worth or pride
the only thrill is in everything forbidden.
lowest of the low
but criminals can be judge and jury
if you was in Strangeways and guilty of a "child blow"
on riot night you would have felt the fury.
every day it did hurt
i need not see any clue
because all offenders were dirt
they were deemed worse then any muck on your shoe.
just like a pan of water
on a hot grill
all the time the temperature the "screws" could alter
every second a potential sizzling spill.
it did boil over
H.M.P were no longer dictating
a bit like going off road in no range rover
the prisoners were in control and indicating.
lessons were detected with no delays
being in prison is no privilege or delight
it not only did bring about changes to "Strangeways"
but rightly so i am sure this riot led to every prisoner having a "right".

( anyone see this show ? does anyone want to try to change the way we deal with people in prison ? https://www.change.org/p/h-m-p-treat...t_created=true )

I watched it with my daughter it was really eye opening, and I'm glad they managed to get the reforms they needed... Yes if you are a criminal be removed from society but I see no benefit to treat people like animals as once they are released they're broken and institutionalised. How is that of benefit to society?

Would this be handled the same way today? no... There a media block on firemen protesting to protect their pensions so prisoners getting their voices heard have no chance!

I bought the t-shirt and we used to go past on the bus and the prisoners would all wave (I think they were waving anyway I suppose they could have been throwing things at the annoying teenagers on the bus)

i watched this last night it was really eye opening ad I actually felt for the prisoners. I thought I'd be the opposite way round but things needed to be changed and the riots where needed to create the reforms in the prison.

i am real slow
thats no lie arista
and on tiibb forum i will grow
be like a blister.
but with your guidance
i will succeed
it will be worth the resistance
because for arista i will write a pleasurable read.
i got to go to bed
night night all in the hood
going to watch the leaders debate and sure to see red
because i suspect lies from the parliamentary which is no good.
i am sure poetry will follow
and a sleep in tomoz is a great way
so get ready to wallow
because i am sure to write even on good friday.

i am drunk and need a sleep. night night all.
