Actually I am a bit of a historian, someone started talking about chips on shoulders referencing Ireland and immediately I thought of the Irish Potato famine. It did at first glance seem ironic. As to a joke about the IPF, if there is one out there about an event in the 19th century which saw the death or loss to emigration of either 1 or 2 million people, I could not begin to think of one. Dark humour at its darkest if one exists...

As to the expression, actually it does not refer to French fries, but a chip of wood, where a belligerent would put it on his shoulder (and yes it was usually a man), and challenge another individual to knock it off, prior to a serious altercation.

Regarding the Peace deal, what peace deal?

Bombings still take place, which have to have permission of the General Council of the IRA to take place by so called splinter groups and punishment shootings still take place. (I thought they were supposed to have been put beyond use? )

BTW what is Vermon??? Is it related to Vermin by any chance?

Here is a tip, some browsers like fire fox allow you to download dictionary extensions which help spell check your typing. It would be nice if others used it more and used proper English. I vaguely remember that we were not supposed to use SMS text speak here, or was that another forum...

May is pretty obviously running the clock down again. There isn't going to be any renegotiation. It's May's deal or no deal, always has been and thats the way it will stay.

The PM is Live with the Labour Leader
in Parliament now.
Not after 3PM.

A Scotsman has shouted out Not True
as she spoke.
And the Leader of the SNP
then shouted out a Rude word
the Speaker then instructed him to withdraw it .
The SNP Leader then did withdraw his word.

Yes she is getting away with it.
The EU will not allow any changes.

She wants a couple of weeks.

Looks like a No Deal

[ITV News Correspondent Angus Walker
Last night, I’d been reporting on the meeting
at the UK Ambassador’s Residence
in Brussels between Michel Barnier
and Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay.
Olly Robbins was also in the same hotel.
He too was having a drink.
He was with two colleagues in the bar
and could be clearly overheard by
other guests as he gossiped about
Brexit, the cabinet and MPs.
He was speaking in such a manner
that you didn’t have to listen hard
to hear him. But to be clear, I was hearing
chunks of their conversation and
not every single word.
He suggested: “... Got to make them
believe that the week beginning
end of March... Extension is possible
but if they don’t vote for the deal then
the extension is a long one...”]

https://www.itv.com/news/2019-02-12/...-or-extension/

ITV news reporter
getting the Civil Servants idea,
which is Not Fact.

Yes she was on SkyNewsHD All Out Politics
as well.

Some reports saying tomorrow Thursday Vote
is at 5PM approx.

Tonight Labour MP Jess Phillips
said on Peston ITV1HD, she believes more Labour MP's
could vote for the PM's Deal
but is not happy about the choice.
Her Deal or No Deal.
Jess also claimed tomorrow's Votes is a waste of time,

This is a total mess.
It's really terrible judgement and management to be in this mess still so late in the day.

Unless MPs really do orchestrate quickly an alternative plan.
Then I do think both an extension of article 50 and a new vote need ruling out.

If I was an MP, I'd never support a no deal vote.
So with like feet made of lead, I would vote to move on and support the deal on offer now.

I'd have to qualify that with a comment to this Prime Minister that she has been a disgrace in her procrastination and political deceit to MPs on all sides in her presentations to Parliament.

To move on from this vote, then start the main deal with the EU.
To finally get rid of this totally untrustworthy PM.
Then move to the next general election whenever that comes.

Should all be a final relief across the whole Nation.

Brexit has become the word I am most likely to hate the most in my life.
Absolutely sick to death of hearing it.

I still argue, from the start, leaving the EU was going to affect the whole of the UK, all MPs of all Parties and all future governments.
This should have been a Parliamentary negotiation to leave, not just a minority government's one.

Only one person is to blame for the procrastination, and farce this became, and that's the present PM.
Whose failure to properly consult and include others rather than deliberately exclude, has brought us to near nowhere really, most likely wanted to be,in over the last 2 years and 9 months to March this year.

A National disgrace.
