Default Back ground checks.

Every show we learn things about some HMs past and not all good.Often its gleaned and shared by members of this forum. What I was wondering is that having short listed someone as a possible HM just how much further research do the producers do.?

It appears that often HMs lie or exaggerate to get a place on the show how much of this are the producers aware of before selecting them.? Do they seek the skeletons and consider the consequences.?

Maybe they follow the any publicity is good theory when the press or forums dish up the dirt.?

I'd guess they do some online research and speak to friends and family, as well as conduct physiology tests and such to get a full understanding of the shortlisted HMs in the advanced stages.

I'd guess it more now though of finding personalities that will clash and people who will be entertaining, so people who lie isn't a big problem for them.

its like a cv goin for a job - you give yourself a better chance - but this year and with bb selecting people like jack and nick - guess it proves this statement is not true.

They run standard DBS checks for criminal backgrounds, as well as medicals. Other than that, there's no standard practice.
