I thought women were equal to men. So why would disrespecting a woman be different to disrespecting men?

I have to agree. By all means, take issue with someone for being disrespectful, but not simply because they disrespected a female specifically.

The whole night in shining armor thing does bug me. Don't you disrespect people like that, fine, but if I were a woman and someone said a comment to me was worse because of my gender I'd probably be more pissed off at whoever was defending me.
