The Only Way Is Essex has been renewed for a further SIX series.


And show bosses plan for the reality show to one day become just like soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

The ITV series, which began on ITV2 but has since moved to new channel ITVBe, will stay on the air until at least 2017 under the new deal announced this week.

Derek McLean from TOWIE makers Lime Pictures told The Sun newspaper today: “We are so thrilled to announce we have been commissioned for six more series of Towie.

“It is not only the leading show for ITVBe, it is a huge priority for ITV in general.”

He added: “We want Towie to become an ongoing, real-life soap opera. It is just as important to ITVBe as Coronation Street or Emmerdale are to ITV.”

The current TOWIE cast are in Marbella at the moment filming a special summer opening to what will be the fifteenth series.

It was confirmed today that the new run will launch with the Marbs special on Sunday, June 14 at 10PM on ITVBe.
