![]() ![]() Unions must have 40% voting for a Strike then its legal. Some Unions do not inform the member who pays them the Money that it goes to the Labour Party Inform them - be democratic for any member so they can tick " No To Labour party" Very Fair and Democratic Sign Of The Times Last edited by arista; 15-07-2015 at 11:17 AM. |

These proposals are as ever from this govt, badly thought out and have flaws.
I don't agree with using agency staff to minimise the effect of strikes,I also think it a disgrace to suggest no more than 6 people may be allowed to be on the picket line. Actually, before the Conservative party starts dictating who the Unions can give their funding too as well, they should also set out to bring democracy to big business and remove the automatic right of big business to contribute to the Conservative party, without first consulting their staff. The rule of 50% having to vote in a ballot is fine but it is a bit rich of this particular Govt to dictate how many should vote for this or that, when this govt sits in power with only 36.8% of the votes cast in a full general election and less than 25% support of all those who are eligible to vote. This is an act of pure spite from the Conservative party towards the Unions and it is wrong overall in my opinion. I'd send them back to the drawing board. |

Monopoly unions like the tube idiots should be banned from striking. Its outrageous they get 29 holidays and 49K a year.
The more controls we have on them the better, its not 1930. There are plenty jobs if you dont like your employer, especially in London. |

![]() Anyway, the tories would not have been elected and certainly not to a majority if the same logic applied to their election.. this is pathetic and it's very saddening to see the dismantling of the trade unions bit-by-bit. These unions represent the rights of workers always, and the way that the media has turned public opinion towards the trade unions in such a shady way, with hardly any positive stories on them, is so unfair.

I agree with reform where it is needed but it should be across the board as to all organisations. These reforms are a step too far for me,as long as workers want Unions, there should be Unions and the right to strike is a right that should be there under guidelines and which should be fully protected too. There are already guidelines in place, which are really enough, one of the worst sort of policies are policies of spite and that is really what these ideas from this Conservative govt really amount to, just spite. Absolutely pathetic and I hope they fail to succeed to get them through as well,in the same way as they are struggling with the daft, cruel foxhunting farce and also the very poorly planned English only votes plans. |

Why don't we just outlaw protesting completely? How about the right to criticise authority? The government as well? Hell, why don't we just get rid of elections?

Thank all powers that be,that in this awful election result, they were only left with a 12 overall majority which hopefully will continue to make life very uncomfortable indeed for them. Hopefully too, by elections will soon remove that overall majority too. They are showing their spite by this move already as to the Unions, never looking at its own extremely poor electoral state as to polling figures. |

You're right it isn't the 30's and there have been reformist working for generations both employers and employees to have a legal framework for fair pay and conditions... why would anyone actively seek the demolition of that safeguard?
