Default Big Brother Australia: Off-Series

BBAus is back later this year for a seventh series and i thought i make a thread to discuss all the rumors that will be popping up soon and a thread to discuss BBAUS in general.

The open auditions for BB7 have closed and the 7th series is due to start in mid April.

Last year the series ran for 101 Days, had 23 housemates and the most boring winner ever - Jamie. BB6 was named 'boring' and 'predictable' by some of the big BB fans in Aussie and many believed it didn’t live up to BB5 in 2005.

Some little bits you may want to know if you have never seen BB Aus:
- Intruders
People who enter the house late into the game are known as Intruders until they are eligible to nominate and be nominated. In the past two years there has been a Intruder Eviction - At Intruder Evictions the Intruders face eviction and the housemates decide who goes.
- Prize Money
In Series 1-3 the prize money was $250,000 but in 2004 they upped the prize fund to $1,000,000.
- Fines
Big Brother 2005 introduced a fines system in which the $1,000,000 cash prize is decreased by $5,000 each time a housemates violates a Big Brother rule. Various things Housemates can be fined for include:
Speaking without a microphone
Speaking in a language other than English (or in code)
Discussing the pre-production process, including auditions
Speaking about Nominations, including who a housemate had nominated after the nominations have been revealed or after eviction
Speaking about previous series; previous housemates; or Big Brother series of other countries, past or present
Not following Big Brother's instructions
Writing
Singing commercial songs
Attempting to contact the outside world
Speaking over Big Brother
Not referring to Big Brother as Big Brother
- Punishment Room
This was introduced in 2006. Housemates have often been sent after receiving their $5,000 fine from Big Brother. Punishment included having to stare at a red dot until big brother says you can stop. You if looked away from it you lost another $5,000.
- Nominations
In Aus they you a point system. They nominate one person for 1 point and one person for 2 point. The 3 or more people with the most votes face eviction.
- 3 Point Twist
Every Friday night housemates compete to win HoH. The winner gets the use the 3 Point Twist. This allows them to deduct 3 nomination points from one of the nominated housemates.

For more information see Here.

Ill upload some BBAus video clips later on if anyones intrested.

If you still want to see what BBAus is like, and if you use torrents, well you can download Series 2-5 from Here. Series 6 will be uploaded soon.

My first bbAus was last year and it was ok. I enjoyed it but by mid-season it was a bit mind-numbing... I hope bb7 is better and I really look forward to it

BB USA , BBUK and BB AUS are really different.
There is no public decision in BB USA, but there is in BB UK and BB AUS.

Too difficult to explain loool !!

Wow does any other nation other than the USA and UK come up with original twists haha? I mean I have only watched the last two years of Australia and the last 3 years of the Uk and all of the USA, but other than the two house twist has Australia ever had an original big twist? They did the twin twist(USA), Bed Sit(UK), and Mother Daughter(Greece and I think another country did that first) and the insider, but the UK had done numerous things like that and I think that another country had a like permant mole before also and now keys(UK).

Mother-Daughter system was uded by Grande Fratello 6 (Italian Big Brother) and the system of Father-Daughter by Grande Fratello 4.

BBAUS 7 will be boring as BBAUS 6...it's really sad !

BBAUS is pretty similer to the UK one, i found it a bit difficult to get into but after 4/5 days i got just as into it as i was into BBUK.

The only main diffrences between the series are nominations, they use a points system (e.g the 3 or more housemates withe most number of nomination points face eviction) and they have a show called 'Friday night live' were the winner becomes HoH has has the power to deduct 3 points of any of the 3 nominees.

Also, there daily shows air at 7:30pm whoch means no swearing and no sexual talk. They did have a show called 'Big Brother: Adult's Only' were they showed all the late night stuff but it was axed mid-series last year - Hopefully it will be back this year.

Oh and they have fines. The prize money starts of at $1million but every time a housemate breaks a rule 5K is deducted from the prize money. For example last year the prize money started off at 1million but due to fines over the 100 days the winner Jamie went away with $426K.

Oh and they use a diffrent voting, the public can vote to Save and to evict. Then when the lines close the save votes are deducted from the evict votes and the housemate with the most number of merged votes is evicted.

E.g.:
Mary has 500 save votes and 510 evict votes. This means she has 10 merged votes.
John has 600 save votes and 700 evict votes. This means John has 100 merged votes and as he has more merged votes then Mary he is evicted.

Cool. Very confusing though

It is a bit but you get used to very quickly.

A down side to BBAUS is that they do tend to focus on realationships a lot and if a housemate has some sort of love intrest they tend to stay in til the end.

Also is clear that some housemates are choosen because of there looks because some of them are as dull as dishwater.

And one thing i dislike is the nomintions are annonced on Mondays and we have to wait til Sunday till the eviction, where as in UK we have to wait just 3 days. Oh and there is no eviction in week 1 and the launch show is pre-recorded.

The launch show is aired on a 24 hour delay, so not to long like Big Brother USa where it is taped 3 days before it airs.
