There is probably too much money sloshing around EPL, when the relegated trio earn around €90.8m [£66m]. Bayern Munich €50.6m. Don't get me wrong for the fans of smaller clubs the TV rights money has meant non top 6 teams such as Aston Villa can buy quality players like Andre Ayew, Stoke's Xherdan Shaquiri etc. Now it's great that teams, such as Swansea, Stoke, West Ham, Leicester and Crystal Palace can compete on a more even footing and really take on the Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. Makes EPL more unpredictable eg Swansea getting double over Manchester United and Arsenal last season, Chelsea faltering title defence this season etc.
However imo the reason why this is not good for EPL, is that it leads to more foreign managers, nothing wrong with that, but most foreign managers pick foreign players and splash the cash on players from abroad and ignore UK players unless forced to buy British for FFP EPL reasons eg Pelligrini cynical pursuit of Stirling. The Chelsea and Manchester City academies have got the best young players in UK, superior coaching and facilities and most of those players will never get a first team opportunity. Most of Chelsea are on loan which the operate as a business, hoovering up the best talent but not using them, but getting money from the loanee clubs. Southampton had a proud tradition of creating great talent eg legend Matt Lee Tissier, Alan Shearer, Gareth Bale, Theodore Walcott, Oxlaid Chamberlain, Luke Shaw etc. Now Keegan wants to rip it up. Only Pochettino seems happy with UK young players at Southampton and now Kate and Co at Spurs.
Also the TV rights money disincentivises the top 4 from winning the CL. Why bother with CL when you earn more in EPL any way. Barcelona and Real Madrid have their own even bigger selfish TV contracts but such weak competition in La Liga league that winning CL and league title, Copa Del Rey is doable. Real Madrid playing mid table fare like Real Betis Espanyol or Elche is easier than Chelsea going to Stoke Crystal Palace or Swansea on a waterlogged pitch in mid February.
