I would just like to know if such a thing actually exists or not?
Not a very P.C thing to ask of course, but surely it must & if so, would the media kick up a fuss about it? Somehow i doubt it. |

lol,
first dont use this a point to try and back your race up, bullet points to consider : - - have you ever had anything racial said to you, and by who? - No other race has ever started a war or crime against another race, just becuase of the skin of the colour, Nazi, Britain, America. - Has the white race ever been subjected by the media, like Black people have over the years and Muslims who in Britain or mostly Brown people. - Are there any racist words like **** or ******, but for white people. If so would you think there is enough hate and offence in it as much as **** or ******. - We all know and can feel vibes of racism, which is why this whole thing in BB started, even you knew it was racism before even taking to the forums. But are trying defend your self from what comes natural. - i have more but cant be bothered. racism is everywere, but you cant have that equate the racism others get. |

Germaine calling the girls 'White' trash was racist . . . whilst I'm still to hear Jade make a racist comment. Isn't she mixed race?

So why when one of the white housemates was referred to as "white trash" did that not spark a major diplomatic incident/a media kick off & debate in the House of Commons?
Come on now...answer that please if you can? |

I am Indian and have lived happily in this country for over 30 years and I have to say that Shilpa is nothing more than a rude snob & that Jade is just a young woman who is not willing to put up with it. Mark my words, she will be exonerated of all accusations of racism. I cannot condemn my fellow countrymen back in India because the press coverage has been utterly misleading, whereas the reaction of Indians here, who have free access to the true going ons in the house, has been despicable, whose false cries of racism will do nothing but adversely affect any future true racist incidents . . . surely a classic example of the boy who cried wolf! I have witnessed Shilpa regularly insult and belittle several members of that household, regularly telling people to 'shut up', I have seen her get her own way by disregarding the majority of house mates wishes, I have heard her lie and talk badly of others behind their backs, I have even seen her physically assault Cleo when she didn't agree with her point of view!
I love my homeland and I love this country for the opportunities it has given to myself and my family but right now I am ashamed and appalled by the blind mob-like mentality of those who have jumped to the unworthy defence of a woman who has no idea how to conduct herself in the real world and should go back and immerse herself in the privileged one where she has spent her entire life. |

And being white myself..the phrase 'white trash' didn't bother me one teeeny bit, but the allegation of Jack calling Shilpa a '****' now that bothered me.
And before the Jack fans start shouting, Notice how I put the word alleged there! Ok? |

Does racism not apply if a comment is aimed at a white person?
It would appear not & why not? |

the very fact that you think you can defend that, shows how superior you think you are.

To Manton, do you actually think white people have ever been victimized in the media? if so, like other races have?

Jermaine is from the United States, and 'White trash' (also 'trailer trash' and 'rednecks') is a common expression in the United States.
It used in the mainstream media there by all sorts of people - similar to how 'chav' is used here. To answer the original question - yes, of course. All races are capable of being racist to each other, sadly. |

Of course there is racism against "white" people... no, it is not as obvious/common as racism towards other races but it does very much exist.

He's in this country and should conduct himself as so. Trash is one thing, adding the 'white' makes it wrong.

I think what he actually said was that those girls would be referred to in the US as white trash, but he preferred not to as he treats all people the same.
But whatever the detail, his remarks don't coincide with a bullying campaign and therefore seem a lot less harmful to most people. Serious racism can apply to any racial group - a racially motivated attack on a white person is just as serious as the opposite. But we tend to be (rightly in my opinion) a bit more sensitive in this country to racism from the majority against the minority. It's the difference between a big guy kicking a little guy and a little guy kicking a big guy. It is also true that the white working class of this country are treated pretty badly, but I don't think you can seriously make a case for Jermaine's comments being anywhere near as offensive as the three girls' behaviour |
