X Factor's Xtra Factor spin-off will now air Thursday and Sunday nights, it's been confirmed.

New hosts Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom will front the new-look midweek programme on ITV2 which will bring the usual news, backstage gossip and interviews we've come to expect for the duration of the live shows.

News of a new midweek Xtra Factor was first reported last month but it won't be an extra show as Saturday's episodes have been axed to compensate.

The new midweek episodes begin THIS Thursday night at 7PM on ITV2, ahead of the first live performances on Saturday, with the spin-off continuing on Sunday after the first live results show.

It was reported previously that extra footage for the Xtra Factor's midweek special could be obtained from new 'Big Brother style' cameras around the finalists' house.

An insider told the Daily Mirror recently: “Simon wants to cash in on the public knowing all about the behind-the-scenes romances and maybe showing them on The Xtra Factor.

“He is up against it in the ratings with Strictly Come Dancing and believes this could be a trump card.”

For now, The X Factor live shows begin Saturday at 8PM on ITV with Xtra Factor on at 7PM this Thursday.

This year there are only seven live shows compared to the usual 10, with the X Factor final scheduled for December 12 and 13.
