I always find it really weird that when an album is released numerous tracks end up charting on iTunes, it usually happens with Taylor's releases, it happened with JB last week and currently with Adele (her whole album is in the top 30 in the US )
I've never understand the thought process behind it though, why not just buy the whole album rather than individual album tracks?

I do if I'm only interested in a few songs from a particular artist in general.
But if I like their music I'll normally get the whole album. |

You might as well just buy the whole album but there are people who will listen to every track and only purchase the songs they like come to think of it I have a friend irl who does this

I think since the dawn of the digital age it's become more about cherry picking, it's a bit of an investment to buy the entire album where before, you had to do it anyway, whereas now you have the option to just buy the songs you like. Artists tend to promote a couple of album tracks before the album's release to encourage people to buy it so they end up getting a bit more exposure as if they were singles anyway.
