Default Making the most of a bad situation..

I think Angie was and will continue to milk the **** out of this, she already over-reacted IMO to someone she apparently hated and hadn't spoken to for 40 years, but the Tiffany situation then gave her more of an excuse to give it the poor me act. The covering her face thing she was doing when Tiffany tried to confront her was so false for me.

I respect that David died but at the end of the day she never liked the guy and to use this for a sympathy vote would be a low blow from Angie.

No matter how bad of terms Angie and David were on they were married for a long time and had a child together of course Angie will be upset he died.

I wish people will stop using this as a reason to bash Angie

Even if she disliked him, that doesn't mean she isn't going to be saddened by his death. He was an incredibly important part of her life, so of course his death is going to affect her.

I was expecting a milk-fest from Angie but actually, she handled it MUCH better than I had anticipated. The drama all came about because of Tiffany and her ridiculous lack of self-control and awareness.

We have a friend who passed away yesterday aged just 50, she and her husband met when they were 14 got married when they were 22 and were 19 years together when she came home one night and told him she didn't love him anymore and she was going to live with a guy she met at work. She left him and their two kids who were aged 13 and 15 at the time. There was HUGE animosity, spiteful words, rows over money and mortgage and as the years went on nothing much changed. Unfortunately she developed MS and grew more and more feeble. Their kids had a hard time as they didn't like her new partner.

What reminds me of Angie and David was a post that her ex husband put online yesterday saying 'An old friend of mine has gone to Heaven'. Because for a LONG time they were partners, lovers, husband and wife and parents and even though they hadn't been together for years and there had been so much bitterness he still looked back on the times they had that were happy and I thought what he said was so poignant. The timing with regard to the situation with Angie prompted me to look at it the same way as our friend. Angie and David had many many tempestuous furious rows and bad karma since they split admittedly a lot could be allocated to her but there was a time that they were friends, lovers, parents husband and wife. So NOOO I DONT think Angie is going to MILK it. I think that if I was in the same position there are bound to be memories that you have in your heart just like our friend . RIP KAYxxx and RIP David xxx

I cannot help but to be in two minds as to whether Angie is genuine in her grief or not....

On the one hand she has done nothing but berate David over the years as regards his behaviour towards her. Her anger showed in her book, speaking candidly about her and Davids life, which was obviously an embarrassment for David. There was also her blaming David as regards her alienation from her son. Could you still love a man who took your child and supposedly turned him against you?

But there is also the feeling that her anger is bought out of her love for David and was saddened at how she was treated by someone who had professed to have loved her at some point and trying to even up the score but failing miserably.

Angie is a tough old cookie who has been around enough to be able to stand up for herself so to see her portray herself in the way she has dosent sit well with me.

The question being...Who is the real Angie Bowie...?

..I'm so sorry about your friend's passing riona.....I've known similar things and yes, feelings must be so complicated for Angie now...David's/Angie's marriage was never 'normal' though, or should I say a love match/type thing..nor their parenting and childhood for Duncan when they were together...I won't really add anything else to your post and what you've said other than..(although I would say that now probably wouldn't be the time for any attempted contact between Angie and Duncan..)...I would love to hear from her, that he's in her thoughts right now, I hope some balance to last night's highlights in shown tonight ....

I couldn't agree more and how can they possibly presume to know what she feels or thinks.

What a wonderful, thoughtful post Riona. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend.

..if I were to guess/speculate and it would be just that...I would say that she may have kept it initially as the mother of their son when he still had the same surname..and then when he changed his, it..she remarried/David remarried etc..it had become the name she was known as in her own career so either herself, decided to keep it as that, as it may effect her earnings if she suddenly became another 'unknown' name or was advised to not change it by her manager for the same reasons....

Bianca Jagger kept her name, and not because she is hanging off Mick's coat tails, but because that's the name she is known by during the period she came to prominence. The same equally applies to Angie.

I don't think she is particularly grieving for DB, and she has said it herself too. Its just not the same as with a current close family member. She may have other reasons to be upset, like reflecting on past mistakes, memories etc with no possibility to now rectify them, but that's not the same as grief.
