If anyone watched the Bit on the Side, one of the commentators, and Cheban, mentioned a few interesting things about Angie's relationship with Bowie.
The commentator, I forget his name, said that she's basically made a career out of talking to the press about Bowie and writing tell alls about him. Furthermore, Chebs said that she and Bowie were not in the least bit close, that they've been divorced for 30 years, and that she didn't really express any signs of having strong emotions and/or connections to him. Now, I'm not saying that her crying was fake, I'm not making any particular comment about it at all. Though, I am wondering how to take this information with all the stuff that happened last night and everyone in the house's reactions to it. Does anyone know anything else about Angie's relationship to Bowie that can back up the claims made on the Bit? Also, do you think it's possible that Angie was mourning a paycheck instead of a man? bowie basically removed angie from his life in the mid 70's and rarely if ever had contact with her since then. angie's written a couple books about their time and threw in the "maybe david and mick jagger slept together" rumour in one of them, I think she might've had a drug problem around that time, I remember her going on howard stern in the 90's talking about him so shes been selling that story for a while (I love the crazy ole bird tho)

That seems to be 'the word'. You can tell by what she has said there has been no contact for many years...and none with her son. It obviously wasn't a good break up for whatever reasons.
Her reaction has been real IMO...she had tears because obviously at one time in their life they loved each other...they produced a son. She had tears recalling that time...and tears like many of us because he was an icon of his time. Her staying in the house isn't a cold or calculated decision...I guess she wouldn't be welcome at his funeral and they had no relationship what so ever for 30 years . Their love must have grown to hate...it happens unfortunately. It's not to say that when they die you remember those feelings you once had and that 'hate' takes a back seat. I don't think she has played up to it at all....it's all real. |

Quand il pleut, il pleut

..I'm no fan of Angie's but I was no fan of hers before she went into the house and she hasn't really done anything to change that opinion since she's been there..there are just things about her as a person that I can't personally relate to and don't admire... and as a mother myself, there wouldn't be an ocean deep enough or mountain high enough that could have ever stopped me from being with my children..(ooo a potential song lyric there..)...her personality as well has always been over-bearing, dominating, attention seeking, controlling etc....
...but I have to say though in fairness to her, it's those very qualities as well as others that helped and contributed toward David becoming Ziggy Stardust and also in exploring who he was, both in his music and in his sexuality as well...they were complete opposites, I met him once, he was quite an awkward and introverted person..I'm sure that he wasn't anything like that when he died and Angie played her part in who he became...I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that she loved him/that he was her world for 10years...she met him at a time when he wasn't the music artist that he became, there was no 'gain' from loving him and being with him/being his wife/supporting his music...other than she believed in him, she's always said that she had their child for David..because she loved him..and however toxic their relationship, I don't believe that she ever wanted the split from him....yes, she's made an income out of books/interviews etc but she didn't marry him because 'he was somebody' and that was a time when there was no Paul McCartney/Heather Mills situations, where devoting 10 years of her life to him personally and in his career was going to leave her with any financial security...so she had some kind of income out of talking about their life together, the good, the bad and the ugly....he didn't need to, he was David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane/The Thin White Duke etc...there had to be some understandable bitterness there, she had nothing and she's not the first person to make her income in such a way and to 'bad mouth' and she won't be the last either....she has her perspective and her 'truth' about their marriage and he will have had his and much of it was a mutual thing that both agreed on, they were crazy people with a crazy marriage and crazy parents... ...no I don't think she was mourning a paycheck, she's had that paycheck any time she wanted it over the years because there has never been a time when his fans didn't want an insight into his personal life as well as he was such a private man...you could flip it and say, that she basically could say anything she wants to now so he would be even more of an income..?...but she's never held back anyway ...I believe that she loved him for 10 years of her life and probably for some time after that, I think that his death would bring many mixed emotions and I think those emotions were and are nothing but genuine ..would she 'milk it' ?...no, not in the way that has been implied at times..what she does love is attention/she's an extrovert.. so she'd be happy with that bit I'm sure but that's not milking it and not realising her emotions are real either, that's just her personality/character...some would want to be left alone at such news, some would want attention etc....if it was the other way round and if Angie had died and David showed emotion of his estranged wife of many years, would we be saying or thinking the same, that he wasn't being genuine...?...because it's not the years that they have spent apart without contact that are the only thing to focus on, there is very much that balance of the 10years they were together..a huge part of anyone's life...and all of these people in the media/on the radio etc saying...ughhhh, why is it anything to do with Angie...well in my opinion, they're the ones who are disrespecting David by trying to delete/disregard 10 years of his live and both personally and musically, 10 extremely important and significant years.... ..I don't admire her as a person for many reasons but she has always, always been very brutally open and honest about herself and her life, there is nothing at all 'fake' about her so it wouldn't make sense at all to think that her emotions and thoughts about David's death were anything other than real... |

I don't buy her for one minute. She seems very calculated with everything she says.

She reacted exactly how i expected her to. She wasnt too upset or too unphased at all. Her ex-husband died and she loved him at atleast one part of her life.
