JEREMY McConnell received flak upon entering the Celebrity Big Brother house due his lack of, er, celebrity status.
But that was unfair, as he did hold the prestigious title of former Mr Ireland… right? Well, actually, wrong – as it turns out, Jeremy was never actually Mr Ireland, despite that being his claim to fame in various reports. In an equally hilarious and cringeworthy tale, the organisers of the Mr and Miss Ireland competitions have denied the reality star ever held the title. They told RSVP magazine: "Jeremy never held the title of Mr Ireland or represented Ireland at any event. "He was a finalist in late 2012 which saw Mr Limerick Leo Delaney win the title and represent Ireland at Mr World 2013. Leo placed a very impressive 1st runner up at the event." Awkward. In a list of Mr Ireland winners, the only men named are Padraig Hearns, Simon Hales, Kamal Ibrahim, Leo Delaney and current title-holder Karl Bowe. The organisers continued: "We can only presume that Jeremy advised his UK agent that he was a former Mr Ireland entrant or his involvement in the event has been blown up by them to make for a better copy or that they made a mistake. No UK press contacted our office to check this fact. "We are always delighted to see our finalists with both events moving ahead with their career and we wish him well but we did want to highlight this fact once again that he was not a former Mr Ireland." Oh, the mortification of it all. Jeremy – who has been at the centre of a major romance drama with housemate Stephanie Davis – isn't the only person to fib in their status recap. Megan McKenna, who threw the biggest tantrum the CBB house has ever seen last night, boasted on launch night about having a Twitter feud with Ellie Goulding – which turned out to be a two-tweet exchange. What's next, Scotty T claiming he's the head of MTV scheduling? Jeremy's representative told us: "Jeremy has never claimed to be Mr Ireland! As far as I am aware he did win Mr Dublin and was a finalist in Mr Ireland, maybe that’s where the confusion has arisen but certainly not from any claim Jeremy has made." CBB bosses have previously been criticised for lack of background checking after failing to discover Nazi-defending comments made by Tila Tequila before she entered the house last series. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/tv/big-br...ver-Mr-Ireland |
