If you mean long-standing members, cc, you only have to pop into the Member List and look for all the names you recognise.

We have 622 members

48 have made over 100 posts

19 have made over 500 posts

10 have made over 1000 posts

2 have made over 2000 posts

But we can't discount our new members who haven't posted much yet, I'm sure there are a few who would say they were "hard-core members" and that they have only just started!

The dictionary defines 'hardcore' as

'the most committed members of a society etc.'

or

'a small group of indispensable persons or things'

or

'irreducible nucleus'

And what, my dear James, does the dictionary define "irreducible nucleus" as?

I work it out to be a nucleus that cant be reduced or simplified!

As if that makes it any clearer!

irreducible:
'Incapable of being made smaller or simpler'

nucleus: (yikes )
'1. A part of the cell containing DNA and RNA and responsible for growth and reproduction
2. The positively charged dense center of an atom
3. A small group of indispensable persons or things
4. (astronomy) the center of the head of a comet; consists of small solid particles of ice and frozen gas that vaporizes on approaching the sun to form the coma and tail'

Doesn't say what an irreducible nucleus is though

I must admit I like the "small group of indispensable persons" definition the best.

So, to all you indispensable persons

Miriam, why does your bunny have a big white patch next to him? I settled down waiting for something to happen and fill it but I gave up after 2 and 1/2 hours........

I too like the definition "small group of indispensable persons" although my OH and various friends and colleagues would probably use the definition "small group of mad, sad beings who just cant let go of something that should be dead and buried".

Needless to say I am not in accord with that definition. As I always say we are completely sane, normal people with a very healthy interest in things and people that caught our imagination that just wont go away.

Nothing wrong with a healthy interest - its what keeps the world going along with
