Default Murder Games - The life and death of Breck Bednar

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...f-breck-bednar

You might remember this case from a few years back... I remember someone on here saying that they had a son/daughter in this boys form in school.

Anyway I watched this and it kind of reminded me of this website and the fact that I've met up with so many people from here, yet I didn't think it was that dangerous. I look back now (especially after watching this) and realise how stupid I've been in the past. It's different having the COL lot over, because I've known them for years and met up with them before, but meeting a total stranger when you havent even seen pics of them... (not that i've done this, but still) It's so scary.

I genuinely worry about a lot of things I see posted on the internet. Not so much here, but I see so many things on facebook where I think 'That's not a girl, that's an older man trying to target someone' and I don't think people realise how dangerous it is on the internet. So many things just don't even get reported, never mind making national news.

I'm posting this because I want younger members (and older ones too, tbf) to see how dangerous things can be online. I think about these parents who let their kids go on minecraft and games like club penguin without watching who they talk to and it scares me so much. Do parents not realise how many people out there target young kids?

Do you think people aren't aware of the dangers of the internet? Because I feel like there isn't enough awareness out there. Am I the only one who thinks so?

Terrifying, I was paranoid about this when my lad was in his early teens, being the youngest he's really naive and would have fallen for these kind of tactics. It's so easy for predators to home in on them on social media too, there should be (if there isn't) whole lessons dedicated to info on the techniques used by groomers from yr6/7.
