Paul Daniels will spend his final days at home after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. The 77-year-old magician left hospital this weekend, his son Martin told the Sunday Mirror. Martin confirmed that there was "no treatment which can help him", and said he "knows things are not in his hands now and we are living in the knowledge every day is a bonus". He added: "It was devastating for all of us. The doctors said the tumour was growing rapidly and could not be cured." Martin went on to say: "He's happy there - some days he is tired and spends most of his time in bed dozing. But even then he is happy." "Death isn't scary - it's just like going to sleep," he said. "It doesn't bother me because when your time's up, your time's up. Some people can't take that." Daniels has also been encouraging his Twitter followers to donate to charity and support future research, saying: "This is to help others, not me." Daniels is best known as the host of The Paul Daniels Magic Show on BBC One, which ran for 25 years from 1979 until 1994. The entertainer also starred in Strictly Come Dancing's eighth series in 2010, where he and pro dance partner Ola Jordan became the second couple to be voted off the reality show.

This is sad news but a refreshing statement about dying there which I appreciate more than the usual standard statement from grieving relatives when a celebrity passes away - I suppose the fear of dying is mostly about the fear of suffering and of missing out... but when you accept that (unless, you know, you die in a horrible accident) your body just slowly shuts down in a way that's designed to not cause you pain (why would it? Your body's out to protect your mind and vice versa ) and Paul Daniels has lived a long, successful and happy life and will be sorely missed...

Anybody seen the Louis Theroux documentary with Paul and Debbie?
Debbie was a right flirt, it looked like she wanted to mount Louis in front of Paul. Proper nympho is our Debbie. I like it, not a lot. |
