I've seen a few people want this to happen but what do you all think?
I would hate this to happen as its not Big Brother and it would be axed quickly as viewers will turn off even more then they do now.

I like the Head of House concept but if they tried doing it in Big Brother UK they'd ruin it with Power Trip-esque twists. I think they should keep the nominations format though (well, what's left of it)

100%, and quite frankly people that haven't watched it shouldn't be voting, because I too ~hated~ the US format for years having never seen a single second of it
I actually think it's more 'Big Brother' and it's more reality too, because under the UK format you are having outside influence which often affects the way the housemates are behaving, people play up to the cameras and try and get the public on side (often by being inoffensive dullards because that's what it takes to do well), whereas under the US format they are left to their devices and things play out naturally. Plus, I think it's far more reasonable and fair that you are evicted through your own fault that you didn't play well enough than simply the public didn't like you (often through virtue of actually appearing in episodes, or worse, your gender and/or ethnicity). It's far more interesting, the series cannot be ruined by the voting public who most of the time don't have a clue what they're doing, and if your favourite goes it's easier to take because by and large it's through their own doing. Plus, BBUK is in a dire state format wise and people are always calling for it to be freshened up, so here's the opportunity. Ideally I'd take the full BBUS format but I realise the public couldn't be completely alienated so there are ways they could do a hybrid of the two that would still give them some involvement (although importantly IMO, not the direct control over who leaves) and generate some revenue at the same time. Some say people would 'switch off' yet the viewership is already at an all time low and we're entering last attempt territory now so why not give it a try? The only reason people are averse to non-public vote formats in the UK is because we don't have enough of them, as with everything the more coverage they get the more likely it is people will warm to them. Plus, I wouldn't be averse to certain sections of the BBUK viewers leaving the show for good anyway, so... |

Big Brother Canada and Gran Hermano exist (Apparently Gran Hermano follows the same concept)

I think British people are too nice to follow the concept, they would hate to have to vote to evict someone. Watch Survivor UK, tragic

BBUSA isn't a rip off at all, it's a different game for a different country (our format flopped over there)

It follows the same basic outlines of nominations and evictions just executed differently.

Don't be ridiculous, the basic premise of Big Brother is putting a bunch of strangers into a house and filming them (and enabling them to be viewed, something BBUK doesn't but US and Canada do, is BBUK not BB?) 24/7.
Any other pieces to the format such as evictions or how evictions are carried out are at the discretion of the individual nation. As I have already described, I would argue the BBUS format is far more 'Big Brother' than our one has ever, or will ever be. |

I'd say yes but knowing the UK we'd just end up with an all-male alliance winning all the comps and getting rid of all the girls for being "too loud, too argumentative" etc.

Any kind of format with clear rules would be nice.
The boat was missed really with HoH - they introduced it in BB9 and it worked quite well, adapted to exist alongside our rules. They then kept it for the first week of the following Celeb BB (and added a HoH room) and it was building quite nicely and they could have used that series to really test it, but despite the celebs and fans speculating on who would be the next HoH and how it might affect things producers stupidly dropped it without a trace. Although the eviction voting doesn't bring in the money anymore (C4 said towards the end of their run it actually lost them money) and although I think even the fans are more disconnected from the voting process than ever I don't think BBUK is quite ready to ditch the public vote. The Brazilian hybrid format though could really work for the UK - basically HoH nominates one person, other HMs nominate a second and viewers evict. BBUK could just go their own way too if they'd just settle on a clear weekly format. It doesn't have to be a HoH but a killer nomination, like in the last week of Celeb BB, would work well alongside a regular nomination process (two with most votes up). Indeed I think it would be more interesting if each week there was a task and the winner had a choice - they could either have immunity or a killer nomination.
