Default Wrestling Icon Sting Retires?

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/wwe/new...r-neck-injury/

WCW Icon Sting has reportedly retired from wrestling.

Steve Borden, who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame ahead of this year's WrestleMania, is being forced to hang up his boots after suffering a serious neck injury.

The Superstar has been diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, TMZ reports, and will no longer be able to wrestle.

The Stinger injured his neck in the Night of Champions match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins in September.

He took two buckle bombs into the corner and visibly had trouble standing.

It is reported that Sting will formally announced his retirement on his induction into the Hall of Fame, though he may continue in a non-ring role in the WWE.

Sting was a stalwart of WWE's rivals WCW in the 1990s, being dubbed The Franchise of WCW and holding 15 championships there, including the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times.

While many WCW stars crossed over to the then-WWF at the end of the Monday Night Wars, Sting opted against doing so, having seen how his former colleagues were treated.

Sting made his debut for the WCW in 1991 and had iconic feuds with 'Hollywood' Hulk Hogan, the New World Order (nWo), Vader, Rick Rude, The Four Horsemen and Ric Flair.

After WCW closed, Sting had stints with World Wrestling All-Stars and then TNA Wrestling, leaving Dixie Carter's company in January 2014.

The release of a Best of Sting DVD by the WWE in October 2014 led to increased speculation that he could be seen in the squared circle for the company.

It came to pass in an explosive Survivor Series cameo where he shifted the balance of power in a Team Cena vs Team Authority main event.

He made his WWE debut in an action-packed match against Triple H at WrestleMania 32, which The Game won following plenty of interference from D-X and the nWo.

Digital Spy has contacted the WWE for confirmation more out of hope than expectation as the only thing that's for sure about Sting... is nothing's for sure.
