The charts only began in 1952, but the No. 1 on my 18th birthday was "Can't Buy Me Love" by The Beatles.

The No. 1 on the day I was born was 'Side Saddle' by Russ Conway.

If any young whippersnappers ask 'Who's Russ Conway?' I'll deal with them later!

Mairi - on my 18th birthday it was 'Knowing You Knowing Me' by Abba. I like that one.

I'm changing mine because of one two many beers, I've not been paying attention, on closer inspection on the 21st it was, It's All Over Now by the Rolling Stones. Now that is class, I'm so relieved.

The UK number 1 was Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum but I prefer the US number 1 which was Respect by Aretha Franklin.
