Default Newcastle :Homeless people offered McD's vouchers for picking up litter

This was Debated on Ch5HD Live AM

[Newcastle City Council will
provide the clean up equipment
as well as collecting the filled
bin bags afterwards for disposal
Teams will be made up of six staff
volunteers and six users of the charity,
who are known as friends
and who will receive McDonald’s
vouchers in return for their work.]

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...uchers-8052885

this was also done by some other Councils in 2011

Some that called into Ch5HD Live
liked the idea of getting them to work each day
but agreed the McD food was not good.
I say ensure they also
have a free salad with every
McD meal after work

i hope they will be checking that they do pick up litter and not just go to the nearest bin and fill from there?

But good idea utilising them for the public good and well done to McDonalds for helping

....hmmm, I'm not sure about this...maybe they could think about training programs for the homeless and helping them to find employment..for it to lead somewhere that could change things for them, maybe..?..but it feels like they're more or less just doing what should be a paid job for more or less nothing...(..I'll try to find out some more about it though..)...

The Council can send a watcher of the Operation
to ensure its all going well.

Its that Newcastle Council and McD who jointly
are doing this
